Senate Panel to Consider Charbonneau’s Bill Lifting Sunday Motorcycle Sales Ban

01/20/12 The Senate Committee on Commerce and Economic Development will consider State Senator Ed Charbonneau’s proposal lifting Indiana’s ban on Sunday motorcycle sales on Friday, January 20th. Charbonneau (R-Valparaiso) said he is working to lift the ban because dealerships are prohibited from selling an intact motorcycle on Sundays, despite being open that day and allowed to service motorcycles and sell merchandise, including all the parts required to assemble a bike.  “This proposal is about removing barriers that prevent local economic development efforts, giving dealerships and consumers the freedom to choose for themselves if they want to sell or purchase that product on that day, and generating additional tax revenue,” Charbonneau said. “Hopefully this is the year we can make this change happen.”
